Helping Delphos Optimist Club at Christmas!

December 22, 2015

Sometimes the logistics of Christmas are just too much for Santa to handle and assistance in spreading Christmas cheer throughout the community is taken on by community service organizations.  One such program is the Optimist Santa Visitation project managed by the Delphos Optimist club.  Preparing for the program is an exciting task as members organize lists submitted to the organization and assist with checking them twice.

Optimist members purchase gifts and parents arrange for a visit to their children throughout the community on Christmas eve.

To raise funds for the program, the Delphos Optimist Club organizes a breakfast with Santa at the Kangaroo Cave during the first weekend of December and continues to work with other services organizations like the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Kiwanis Club, Rotary, Fraternal Order of Eagles, and many individual donors on support of the program.  The program was originally started by the Delphos Jaycees and continued by the Optimist Club when the group disbanded.

The Santa visitation is available to all families throughout the community and through the continued support of many volunteers, has been in existence for approximately 55 years by previous estimates of past Jaycees and members of the Optimist club.  We at UltraSound Special Events have been excited over the past couple years to assist in purchasing gifts and stuffing the truck full of toys so they can be brought back to a local church and organized for delivery.  There are many volunteers that make a community great and it’s great to share the joy in Christmas!!
