Have FUN with Photos at Your Wedding

February 1, 2017

How will you remember your wedding?  Your memories can be carried forward in a number of creative ways using photos and social media.  Beyond hiring a photographer there are many unique and creative ways to collect candid shots that may otherwise be missed.  The easiest and most inexpensive way to encourage social media sharing is with a creative hashtag.  Other ways we will present include photobooths and snapchat filters.

A simple way to encourage use of your hashtag is to brainstorm with your wedding party for a creative hashtag idea and make sure all your wedding party is prepared to use it throughout the day.  Get the momentum going with your family and friends and print your hashtag on a table card or display it near the entrance to your wedding venue.  A recent example we wanted to share is a wedding “I Spy” game where guest were provided a list of photo ideas to share along with the #weddingcouplehashtag for use on social media sharing.  This is a creative and low cost idea for encouraging guests to take photos.

Portable PhotoBooths can print photos on demand and many photobooth companies provide duplicate prints so that guests can keep a token from the wedding and then place a copy in a photo guest book.  Props may be available and/or the photobooth may also have fun borders, novelty software programs, or green screen capabilities.  Social media sharing could also be integrated in the booth or most booth can save files for uploading later if a wifi connection is unavailable.  The cost of photobooth rentals may vary from $500 - $1500 based on functionality on the booth, quality of prints, or additional services provided by the company you are working with.

Snapchat filters are also trending for wedding use and can generally be created for as little $5 – $25.  One question to be aware of is how savvy will your wedding guests be at utilizing the filter?  You can design a custom or template type geofilter for your wedding day, bachelor, or bachelorette party.  Once you have obtained a filter design it must be submitted to snapchat for approval and then is scheduled for a date and location.  Usually a filter will be active for 6 hours and 30,000 sq. feet around the location determined for use.

If you are interested in more information on snapchat filters, a DIY site is available at pepperfilters.com or snapchat.com.  UltraSound Special Events can also provide assistance in creating snapchat filters for clients to encourage your event social sharing.  Photobooth rentals are also available with package discounts available with DJ Services.  In the words of Frank Sinatra… “Start Spreading The News!” or with today in mind, Sharing!!
